While more "tech project" than "craft" it IS Nintendo themed. This is my "Nintendtar" - It's an electric guitar made out of wood, brass and an old NES. It's not done yet, obviously, but I've tested it a little bit and it sounds pretty good. I've made both piezo and humbucking magnetic pickups for it, which it will sport simultaneously. I'll also be dressing up the neck with some painting, and dressing up the insides with some custom electronics that allow for recording, mixing and waveshaping the sound produced by the guitar.

These are my Super Mario Bros russian dolls! I made these as a gift for my brother for Christmas. The dolls themselves are just blanks that I ordered on ebay. They're hand painted with cheap acrylic paint, and hosed down with a high gloss coating. (That was a sticky mess) They were featured on Kotaku last year sometime! More photos of them can be found here : http://www.gadgetvenue.com/super-mario-russian-doll-set-03185311/ (The smallest doll is a 1-up mushroom. I get that one a lot.

duck_hunt

This is actually just a print I got at a goodwill store. You know, one of those ones that's done on fiberboard and actually stapled to the frame? I added the ducks using acrylic paint, which doesn't stick particularly well to the semi-glossy print. Any thoughts on improving the paint adhesion are certainly welcome. Two coats for all those pixely features was definitely not fun!
